in memory, I endure
My work explores the fragility of memory and the passage of time, using layers of transparent materials to reflect how memories fade, shift, and distort. Born from my own experience of memory loss following a concussion in 2016, these drawings are my response to the gaps and absences in my recollection, using mark-making as a way to process and reclaim lost fragments of self. By layering graphite, watercolor, and ink on translucent surfaces, I create works that balance control and spontaneity, reflecting both the clarity and ambiguity of memory. This process allows me to give form to what cannot always be expressed in words, capturing the tension between loss and recovery, and finding meaning in the spaces between what we remember and what we forget.
